• Enhanced life-skills of 400 girls and the capacities of their parents to become more vocal and demand for better VAG responses/services.
• Built capacities among duty bearers (decision makers and service providers) to become more responsive to girls right to education in two schools of Nebbi District.
• Strengthened CVL capacity to plan, implement, sustain and respond to women’s/girls strategic rights and needs in VAG, HIV/Aids and Education.
The project will draw on a wide arrangement for partnership for its effective and successful implementation as below:
• Training technical assistance is expected from the Education Department, HIV/Aids Focal Person, Community Services Department and the Police Family and Child Protection Unit.
• The awareness/advocacy events will use cultural approaches based on the SASA! Activism Kit. This is a comprehensive, user-friendly methodology for organizations interested in mobilizing communities to prevent violence against girls and HIV infection. For this project, it will include interactive approaches using gymnastics, art, ‘omweso’, puppets/parades, music/drama in ways and style that involve and are attractive and humorous to pupils and communities.
• Globally, the project will seek resources from the Peace and Development Collaborative Network (a professional networking site to encourage interaction between individuals and organizations world wide involved in development and peace – with over 15,000 organizations currently). CVL has already joined the network, and will have its website established and functional by March, 2010 – placing Nebbi and the schools on the global partnership network.
