Women Information and Advocacy Project
CVL BRIEF HISTORY
CVL started in November, 2005 as a study group calling itself “Word Study Group” by female teachers on upgrading program who failed to get required information for their research work, making them very insecure about the impending massive government retrenchments in the education department.
• Realizing the development information gap existing in the district, and with a motivation by the young teachers to offer education related services (in relation to their profession), they formed themselves into CVL in January, 2007. They then enrolled more members totaling 12 and subsequently registered the library as a community-based organization (CBO) in November, 2007.
• Since then, CVL has received two international funding from our first and major donor Mama Cash/Fund for Women – Amsterdam/Netherlands totaling now 30,599.00 euros.
