• For the start it operates mostly the lending wing and not having reading room – because of funds limitation. But, the concept of a reading room is also being discouraged to keep the library accessible to women and girls by ensuring that it does not become ‘a gossip-centre’ for men.
• The library has currently a collection of over 500 books spanning: Gender/Poverty, Human rights/governance, Agriculture/Livestock; Health/Science/Mathematics, Textbooks/Literature/Fiction, Economics/Accountanccy/Bussiness, Leadership/Politics, Government Policies, Magazines/gazettes (including two national dailies) and World Bank Publications.
• In March, 2010, the WARC received a consignment of 100 books fron World Vision (Panyimur ADP).
2. The Nebbi Schools VAG Model Project
The Nebbi Schools VAG Model Project aims at “prevention, management and in the long run elimination of violence against girls in two primary schools and communities of Nebbi district by 2010”.
It especially aims at reduced incidences of violence, HIV/Aids and school drop-out among 400 girls aged 12-17 years in Nyacara and Goli Mixed Primary School by December, 2010. This is complementary to the Presidential Initiative on Aids Strategy and Communication to Youth (PIASCY).
